Lunch stops on our tour typically consist of pulling to the side of the road and preparing sandwiches. But, there is always a special experience to be had including the following:
1. Being told to leave the primary school we pulled up to because
there was a meeting of the Ugandan Army there.
2. Seeing soldiers come out of the wooded area behind where we were
eating (soldiers were heavily present in Uganda).
3. Being watched by men herding cows and goats that surrounded our vehicle and food (we were watched for 40 minutes from a distance of
less than 10 meters).
4. Kids often came to stand around and watch us eat. Often our tour
guides would hand out bread or snacks to the kids' sometimes greedy but
always enthusiastic reception.
5. A field of hundreds of butterflies.
6. Lunch literally on the equator.
The good, bad, and the ugly, huh? G
