Africa is OLD

I suppose the presence of a country of farmers and herders and tribes should have reminded me of this fact, but the African people are very old. 3.5 million years to be exact. In the national Nairobi museum, we saw a whole bunch of awesome ancient skulls including the Peking man and Lucy and we went to a museum at the Ovadai gorge where many of the discoveries of million year old tools have been made over the decades. The combination of seeing these and being surrounded by monkeys reminds me of the wonders of evolution, and how very old the people of Africa truly are. Camping by the stars in this land of ancient wonders really brought home a sense of connectedness to the world.
